During the past twenty years, Cryptopsy have wreaked havoc throughout the metal genre by releasing six studio albums, a live album, and an EP; all of which have confronted and invigorated the conventional approach to writing extreme music. Now in 2012, Cryptopsy return to their roots in order to craft their newest endeavor. The band has said that Cryptopsy will be their most brutal, technical and dynamic offering as of yet.

MetalSucks says, "Cryptopsy brings the old sickness back. Cohesion aren’t what these songs are about; they’re attempts at death by exhaustion. When Cryptopsy go full speed, it sounds like they’re racing each other into a giant meat grinder, on motor bikes, and that they all have rabies and advanced degrees in jazz composition."
