One of the most interesting heavy bands to emerge from the London Underground scene in recent times is Winters. They display a sound that conjures up the sludge-olithic heaviness of Melvins being dragged along by the mournful moroseness of Saint Vitus whilst being carried on by the valium induced melodies of Bleach-era Nirvana. Heavy they certainly are, though definitely not in the tirelessly worn out cookie monster Satan spewing generic tradition of recent years. The sound of Winters is born from a more organic source. They describe themselves as a ‘blend of melodic funeral music mixed with a hint of Ace Frehley at half speed’. This EP is the bands debut release which will be followed by a full length album in early 2007.
